Christmas Decorations Day

 Feeling festive today!

Water Cycles on Scratch

In inquiry, we have been learning about the water cycle and the functions of each part. After imagining what would happen if some parts were missing from the cycle, the students used Scratch to create an interactive program to share their learning. To help create their programs, they learned how to create and animate their own sprites. Then they used the Broadcast and Receive blocks to create more interactivity. Take a look:

Connecting with Chaucer School

In Term 3 and 4, students have connected with a Year 5 and 6 class from Chaucer School through video conferencing. We enjoyed talking to a new group of students and seeing what  learning was like in another school. Here are some photos from our meetings:

Kids For Kids

The choir have practiced all year learning to sing a range of classic Kiwi songs for the annual Kids For Kids show. On Thursday 5th November, they performed at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna. They had an amazing time singing and dancing on stage. Well done to everyone and especially to Sanah who was one of the soloists in Don't Dream It's Over. Thank you to all the families who came to give their support. We hope you enjoyed it.

Earth's spheres

This term, we are exploring Natural Systems in our inquiry unit. Our introduction covered the four spheres that make up the Earth's systems: Geosphere, Hydrosphere, Atmosphere and Biosphere.

We used Canva to create collages that represent each sphere.

Pink Shirt Day

Today (16th October) is Pink Shirt day, a time to stand together and speak out against bullying. Room 2 students contributed by wearing pink outfits and donating money to support the Mental Health Foundation. We hope everyone remembers to be kind, be awesome and treat others with respect.

Market Day

This term's inquiry was all about money matters. To finish the unit, our class planned, crafted and managed a market day for years 1 to 4. All the students pitched in to help run the different stalls - from attracting customers, being cashiers and making deals - we had a fantastic insight into what it's like to be in business. It was a wild success and we were completely sold out by the end of the day. Here's a video about the event:
